Episode 5 of Primal Shift is now on Amazon!

Episode 5 of Primal Shift is now on Amazon! That marks the end of season 1. And let me tell you, it's a great feeling. As soon as I finish Hive 3, I'll be starting work on season 2. But here's where I need input from fans of the series. Should I release season 2 in the same episodic format I used for season 1 or all at once in a single 300-400 page book?

From a reader's perspective, there are benefits and drawbacks to both. Getting bits of the story into your hands quicker is one advantage. If I release season 2 in one lump sum, it won't be out before September this year. So there would be a wait. But it may save you all a buck or two. I guess what I'm asking is, would you prefer your steak cut into strips and served piecemeal every 10 minutes, or would you rather wait a little longer and eat everything at once? Hmm, for some reason my stomach's grumbling. If you're a fan of the series, I'd love you to weigh in and let me know what you'd prefer. All right, back to Azina and swarms of hungry Zees.

  1. I personally feel you should do the episodic books again because it is suspenseful and keeps you wanting more. But a physical book is nice too. I don't mind spending the extra buck or two for the episodes personally because I feel your books are well worth it. Couldn't you do both though? Episodes 1st then a published book?

  2. Thank you for the feedback Terrasha! Either way, at the end of each season there will be a compilation (ebook and paperback). As of now however, I'm thinking there may only be two seasons. Guess we'll see what happens at the end of episode 10. ;-)

  4. Hi Griffin, thanks for Season One. Brilliant story line. I have it on my kindle and have been reading it for 3 evenings to get to the end quicker! lol

Being a pensioner, buying the whole season is better for me than one episode at a time, but can I wait until September?????? mmmmmmmmmm xx

  5. Thanks Ann! So glad you're enjoying Primal Shift. I'll admit I'm on the fence about how to release Season 2. As I mentioned in my blog post there are advantages and disadvantages to both approaches. I'm hoping to start writing ep.6 at the end of the month and hopefully I'll have an idea by then. :-)

  6. Griffin, I just finished all of season 1 and I want to read more ASAP. I know it's September now and I don't know where you're at with season 2, but I vote that you release some episodes as soon as you have them complete to allow the readers to keep up-to-date on the series. I loved season 1 and can't wait to read the next episodes!

  7. Hi Christi,

While I was writing the Primal Shift series I often wondered if anyone would like it or find it too 'out there'. As another author once said, writing a novel is like crossing the Atlantic in a bathtub. So thank you Christi for stopping by to let me know how much you enjoyed it. Really means a lot! :-)

I'll be honest, I haven't decided yet how to release Season 2. Finishing my Hive series has taken longer than expected. One of the main issues holding me back is the hours and hours it took to design covers for each episode. Sort of a boring, behind the scenes bit of info, but that sort of thing does take away from the time I can put pen to paper. I'm going to see where I'm at by the end of September and make an announcement then. Really glad you stopped by!

  9. Hi Mac,

I'm editing season 2 as we speak. I decided to release it all at once this time instead of in installments. If everything goes as smoothly as I'm expecting it to, it should be out in under a month. Many thanks for swinging by. :-)
